Dermal Fillers

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are gel-like substances that are injected beneath the skin to restore lost volume, smooth lines and soften creases, or enhance facial contours.

Loss of facial volume, wrinkles and deep facial folds can often make us feel self-conscious about our appearance. Dermal fillers are injected into your skin to soften lines, folds and wrinkles and to also give volume to areas which have lost their support. Dermal fillers can also be used for facial re-contouring to improve facial features and profiles.

There are many different types of dermal fillers and many different brands. At ‘’Gold Angels Medical Aesthetics’’ we only use the top brands which have undergone many years of testing and research. We mainly work with the JUVÉDERM® and RESTYLANE® range for the outstanding properties that it holds.

Most types of dermal fillers are composed of Hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid naturally exists within the skin and it absorbs water giving volume, shape, hydration and elasticity. Hyaluronic acid has minimal risk of reactions and is more readily accepted by the body than other silicone or collagen fillers.

For certain dermal fillers procedures topical anaesthetic is first applied and left to numb the skin for 20-30 minutes. A numbing injection can be given to numb the area further although this is rarely required. The dermal filler is then injected into the area required using a very fine needle. Results can be seen immediately after dermal filler treatments and generally last up to 12 months or longer.

Dermal fillers can be used to treat different areas of the face, including the lips, chin, jaw, cheeks, forehead and nose, and are ideal for dealing with specific issues such as loss of volume, deep lines, tear troughs, and jowls.Facial fillers are very commonly paired with muscle- relaxing injections. This is particularly effective for rejuvenating the face, especially in young and middle-age patients.

Dermal Fillers on Cheeks (create a fuller cheek or a high cheek bone look)

Cheek augmentation using dermal fillers is a highly effective treatment not only to enhance the cheek bones but also to lift the skin and reduce facial lines and sagging. It can be used to create better facial structures and support.

For women wanting a high cheek bone or better definition of their faces this treatment can create beautiful results. For men who want a more structured face, cheek augmentation can help to create that.

If you are happy with the shapes of your cheeks but would instead like to have a mini face lift this can also be done. Cheek augmentation can be used to simply lift the skin and reduce the heaviness that develops around the mouth and cheeks. It is also a perfect way to reduce smile lines and to stop them from getting worse. Cheek augmentation is also good to help reduce a tired facial appearance and to reduce a dark or hollow under eye area.

Dermal Fillers on Lips (Vermillion border, lip augmentation, plumper and fuller lips)

If your lips are not as defined as they used to be, border line injections can be used to enhance the definition and outline of your lips. If you love the shape of your lips and simply want to add volume lip body enhancement can be done for you. Lip body treatments can be used for a subtle enhancement or a noticeable change. If you want a subtle enhancement it will simply make your lips feel and look healthier and more hydrated. If, however you want a noticeable change in volume this can also be done with Lip Body Treatments. The placement of filler is positioned accurately and carefully to maintain the natural feel and movement of your lips. This technique ensures a beautiful natural appearance of your new enhanced lips.

Lip Lines (Smoker’s Lines)

Lip Lines – Lip lines are also known as Smokers lines. They are the vertical lines (and sometimes horizontal lines) that develop above the upper lip and are made worse by pursing or kissing of the lips. These lines can be corrected or improved with this treatment. It is carefully carried out to replace the volume loss that has caused the skin to collapse and crease in these areas. Providing structure back to this area will not only smooth the skin and remove the lines but will improve the definition around the lips.

Nose to mouth lines (Naso-labial folds)

Nasolabial smile lines extend from the corner of the nose almost to the corner of the mouth. The biggest deficiency that develops for some people is at the corner of the tip of the nose making a shadow in these areas. For others the Nasolabial lines are most severe on smiling but when they begin to be visible at rest it is a good time to start addressing them.

Mouth to Chin lines (Marionette lines)

Marionette lines extend from the corners of the mouth downwards and can contribute to a downward smile giving a saddened appearance. Marionette lines can also occasionally be so severe that the corners of the mouth get sore all the time from saliva collecting there. Strengthening of the marionette lines with dermal filler provides better shape and support of the lips and also the lower face.

Dermal Fillers on Chin (defined chin with fillers)

Chin filler treatments are used to treat a variety of issues around the chin area. If you feel your chin is too pointy or even too pronounced, we can help to recontour the areas around the chin and create a chin that is more harmonious with the face and less obtrusive. If you feel your chin is set back and your profile could do with improving, then we can bring your chin forward to create the ideal facial profile. If your face is too round or your lower face is too short, we can create a longer more youthful face for you. If you don’t like your chin dimples and creases, we can erase them for you. If the skin texture over your chin is not as supple and smooth as it used to be, the chin filler treatments can also help to resolve these issues. If you have a double chin effect or saggy skin around your jaw line, chin augmentation along with jaw line augmentation could help you.
