Botox migraine treatment

An important progress in the treatment of patients with chronic migraine is the approval by the of the use of Botulinum toxin for the preventive treatment of chronic migraine.

Migraine is not a simple headache that can pass with a walk in the fresh air or taking a light painkiller. This pain, which is localized on one side of the head, is unbearable, typically complicates the life of the sufferer and, of course, is occurs regardless of age or gender, while it belongs to the primary pains, that is, to those that occur independently of some other condition. Often migraine is accompanied by hypersensitivity to light, sounds, and strong smells.

Botox with its ability to paralyze the muscles comes to relieve those who suffer from migraine, and especially those with chronic migraine, means those who suffer for more than 15 days a year.

Botulinum toxin is injected into key areas where pain is localized, such as

  • the muscles of the front of the head, forehead
  • side of the head, temples
  • back of the head,
  • the neck and back of the patient.

It is important to emphasize that in the case of migraine, Botox therapy is used to reduce its appearance and not to eliminate it and that is why sometimes this treatment is combined with classical medication. If this treatment proves to be effective, it is recommended to repeat every 3-4 months.

This is a treatment carried out only by qualified doctors has done the relevant training specifically for the administration of Botox™ in chronic migraine in special clinics
